Experienced Osteopathic Care, Built Around You

What Is Osteopathy & Who Can It Help?

Osteopathy is a regulated healthcare profession that focuses on assessing, diagnosing and managing problems affecting the muscles, joints and wider musculoskeletal system. In the UK, osteopaths must be registered with the General Osteopathic Council to practise legally.

At OsteoHub, people commonly see our osteopaths for:

You do not need to know exactly what is causing your symptoms before booking. Your osteopath will assess your presentation and explain what they find. You can also explore the wider range of issues we treat before your appointment.

When Should You See An Osteopath?

You may want to arrange an osteopathic appointment if pain, stiffness or restricted movement is:

You do not need to wait until symptoms become severe before seeking advice. An assessment can help you understand what may be contributing to your symptoms, whether osteopathy is suitable and what the most appropriate next steps may be.

Your Appointment

What Happens At An Osteopathy Appointment?

Your appointment involves understanding your symptoms, assessing your movement and discussing the most appropriate treatment and management options.

01

Your Health & Symptoms

Your osteopath will begin by discussing your symptoms, relevant medical history, previous injuries and day-to-day activities.

This helps build a clearer picture of what may be contributing to the problem.

02

Physical Assessment

Where appropriate, you may be asked to perform movements so your osteopath can assess areas such as mobility, strength and function.

Further clinical or neurological assessment may be carried out when indicated.

03

Your Treatment Plan

Your osteopath will explain their findings and discuss suitable next steps with you. Treatment may include massage, mobilisation, manipulation or other manual techniques, depending on your presentation and preferences.

Exercise guidance, movement advice and practical lifestyle recommendations may also form part of your management plan.

For conditions such as lower back pain and sciatica, recognised guidance supports an individualised approach that can include staying active, exercise and manual therapy as part of an appropriate treatment package. You can read more in the NICE guidance on low back pain and sciatica.

An Osteopathy Team You Can Feel Confident In

OsteoHub was created to give people in Mumbles access to professional, multidisciplinary healthcare in one place.

Principal Osteopath Sam Webborn has worked in private practice since 2015. Since the 2015/16 season, he has also worked as an osteopath for Swansea City FC alongside the first-team medical team. Working within a professional football medical team has given Sam extensive experience managing sports – related injuries and working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, alongside his wider private-practice work.

OsteoHub is not centred around one practitioner alone. The wider osteopathy team provides professional assessment and individualised care, giving patients greater choice and appointment availability while maintaining the patient-focused approach the clinic was built around.

Why Choose OsteoHub For Osteopathy?

OsteoHub combines the focus of an established osteopathy practice with the convenience of a wider multidisciplinary clinic.

If another form of support may be more appropriate, the clinic’s practitioners can inter-refer where suitable. This means you can access services including Sports Therapy, Foot Health, Reflexology and Counselling from the same Mumbles clinic.

The dedicated OsteoHub clinic opened in December 2024 and now operates from three treatment rooms, with a multidisciplinary team offering services across six days.

The aim is simple, to provide accessible, professional healthcare and make it easy for local people to find the right support when they are in pain.

Osteopathy From Our Mumbles Clinic

All appointments take place at OsteoHub’s clinic at 54 Newton Road, Mumbles, Swansea, SA3 4BQ.

Alongside patients from Mumbles, the clinic welcomes people from nearby areas including Newton, West Cross, Murton and the wider Swansea area.

Patients usually book no more than one or two weeks ahead, and the clinic currently has capacity to see many people within a week.

Frequently Asked Questions About Osteopathy

No. If you have pain, stiffness or restricted movement but are unsure what is causing it, an osteopathic assessment can help clarify what may be contributing and whether osteopathy is appropriate.

Yes. The title “osteopath” is legally protected in the UK, and practising osteopaths must be registered with the General Osteopathic Council.

Osteopathy may form part of conservative management for some types of back pain. Treatment suitability depends on your symptoms and assessment. The NHS advises that many episodes of back pain improve within several weeks and recommends staying active where possible.

OsteoHub generally has capacity to offer appointments within a week, although availability varies by practitioner and preferred appointment time.

Your osteopath will explain their findings and, where appropriate, recommend another practitioner, GP assessment or other medical support rather than continuing treatment that is not suitable.

We recommend loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy movement during assessment and treatment.
